Tuning In
The occasion of the New Year reminds me that none of us have ever lived this particular year, day, or minute before. Every single moment on this earth is unique—a once in a lifetime experience that can never be repeated.
After spending a week meeting and falling in love with my newborn grandson, and watching my youngest child and his wife magnificently step into parenting for the first time, my awareness of life’s miracles feel extra-heightened.
Taking care of my grandson, who had no words to express his needs, meant tuning into him with all of my senses. Were his cries communicating hunger, gas, or simply a need for more movement and soothing sounds? Figuring out and providing what he needed to feel safe, comfortable and happy was deeply gratifying, inspired as I was by spontaneous, boundless love.
Caring for a baby is a potent reminder of how to best care for ourselves. Just like babies, our bodies communicate with sensations rather than words. Feeling our best physically and emotionally requires paying close attention to our internal landscape, as well as discovering what it takes to make us feel good.
Lovingly prioritizing our personal well-being with the same devotion we show a baby makes living on this planet much more enjoyable. That’s why I’m happy to be kicking off the New Year with a free one-hour online event focused on how to harness the power of our bodies and minds to quickly and easily up-level our physical and emotional states.
This novel collaboration with Katie Dutcher—a long-time mindfulness and meditation teacher who recently completed her schooling to become a therapist and qigong instructor—brings together the mindfulness and qigong-inspired self-awareness, self-soothing, and self-empowerment techniques that we’re both so passionate about.
In this experiential workshop, Katie will show us how simple movements and standing postures in combination with mindfulness, conscious breathing, and visualization can help release tension, turn stress into vitality, and transform difficult emotions. Our hope is that our offering will help you feel healthier and happier in 2025 and beyond.
With gratitude to all our readers, and wishes for a wonderful New Year filled with much healing, joy and laughter,
Myra
