Flowers for Everyone

Last week’s blog focused on the power of visualization—how our mind and body respond to vivid imagery as if it’s real, making its impact surprisingly strong. Worries can be viewed as negative visualizations about an undesired future that fuel the flames of fear. In contrast, daydreams of beauty, freedom and fun can foster long-lasting feelings of peace, joy, and possibility.

My father, Mendek Rubin, called visualizations his “Trojan horse,” because early in his healing journey—when his ingrained conditioning and habits made him highly resistant to change—he was able to “sneak” visualizations into his mind while staying under the radar of his “ever-vigilant ego.” My dad said that he was eventually able to “plant flowers in my psyche where formerly only weeds had grown.”

Today I am sharing one of my father’s shortest and sweetest visualizations. I love to read it aloud, and then pause for a moment to savor how good it makes me feel—open-hearted, generous, and enchanted. I hope this visualization blooms something sweet inside you, too.

Basket of Flowers
I am a carrier of love offerings.
I carry a basket of flowers, and I offer one to everyone I meet,
be they friend or foe.
No matter how many flowers I give away, more flowers appear in the basket.
It is magic.
I am a part of this magic.
