Commemorating International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day: Myra Goodman speaks out

Today, International Holocaust Remembrance Day marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz— the place where most of Myra’s extended family was murdered. As a second generation survivor who steeped herself in that terrible time during the writing of Quest for Eternal Sunshine, Myra felt compelled to add her voice, as well as her father’s wisdom, to the conversation in her poignant essay in Salon.com. Please read it and pass it on.

Kind World podcast featuring Edith Rubin (Mendek’s wife, Myra’s mother)

Kind World is a radio series and podcast by WBUR (producers of NPR’s Morning Edition, All Things Considered, the Modern Love podcasts, and much more). It is about how a single act of kindness can change our lives. On International Holocaust Remembrance Day they are featuring Edith's story focusing on the acts of kindness she still remembers from that terrible time. This interview is the very first public interview Edith has ever given. The entire podcast is less than 10 minutes long, and after the break, you can hear Myra explaining why she believes the Holocaust is still very relevant today. Thanks for listening!
