Pause: Sense Love and Connection

My qigong teacher often says, “Where the mind goes, energy flows.”

When we turn our attention toward what brings us delight, our energy naturally lightens, opens, and expands. We feel buoyant, spacious, and connected. In contrast, when we focus on something negative, our energy draws inward, tightens, and contracts. In this challenging world, consciously cultivating love and positivity is a powerful act that supports our personal joy and well-being, while also radiating outward to uplift everyone in our orbit.

Today’s “Take a Moment” micro-meditation—Sense Love and Connection—is one of my favorites. In this two-minute practice, therapist and mindfulness teacher Katie Dutcher invites us to bring to mind someone we care about and send a beam of love and goodwill that reaches them wherever they may be. I often extend this invitation to include my deceased parents or my beloved dogs. Without fail, it lifts my spirits and feels nurturing and healing.

In addition to experiencing this lovely micro-meditation, I hope you will consider joining us tomorrow, Saturday, November 15, at 10:00 AM Pacific, for a free 2-hour writing workshop—Writing as a Pathway to Resilience and Joy—with my wise and brilliant writing mentor, Laura Davis. Laura will guide us on a transformative creative journey to explore new ways of staying grounded, present, and joyful—even in the face of adversity. Everyone is welcome; no writing experience needed.

Tiny pauses to be right here, right now can have big results. Visit and bookmark our library of twenty Take a Moment micro-meditations—all under two minutes long—that make taking mindful pauses as easy as possible. We invite you to "Take a Moment" to find the calm that is always within you.
