Pause: Step into the Light
Looking back at 2025, one of the goals achieved that I’m most pleased about is expanding Quest for Eternal Sunshine’s library of free “Take A Moment” micro-meditations. Averaging only two minutes long—short enough to fit into even the busiest of schedules—they’ve become our most popular free “Tools for Healing” offering. This year, we’ve added fourteen new ones, for a total of thirty-four, organized into five categories: Breath, Emotions, Body, Senses, and Nature.
These meditations were created in collaboration with Katie Dutcher, whose rich training and experience as a therapist, mindfulness and meditation coach, Certified Mindful Outdoor Guide, and qigong teacher bring a depth and wealth of wisdom to all of our projects.
Today, I’m happy to share one of my favorite new “Take A Moment” micro-meditations from our nature collection: Step Into the Light. I especially love this one because it embodies the theme of this entire Quest platform: connecting to the light that is always available to us—the eternal sunshine my father sought and found on his healing journey.
Katie’s words are so lovely, that simply reading them helps me embody the healing and uplifting energy of “eternal sunshine.” Here is the meditation in both written form and with an audio guide. I hope that you, too, find it soothing, replenishing, and uplifting.
Step Into the Light Meditation
Take a moment to connect with the power of light.
Let your eyes close, and imagine that you’re sitting outdoors. Above you, clouds begin to part to allow bright rays of sun to stream down.
You can see the golden glow of this light, and you can feel the warmth of sunlight on your skin. This warm golden light shining on the top of your head, washing down your chest and arms, slowly cascading down the back of your body.
In your mind’s eye, seeing and feeling this brilliant light surrounding you, allowing it to infuse through your skin, penetrating deeply all throughout your body, all the way down to your feet.
Feel its aliveness, the life-giving quality of light—light that gently lifts away the darkness, light that can soothe and heal hurt places, light that is always here, always available to connect with.
Breathing in a spacious breath, lifting and expanding through the chest, and releasing. Take your time to sit in this golden light as long as you’d like.
