Pause: Relax Your Head and Neck

I found it fascinating to learn that in many parts of the world, people don’t point to their heads when they’re asked where their thoughts come from. Instead, they point to their heart, or lower down, to their belly or gut. These places are considered their centers of wisdom. In our culture, we’ve been conditioned to believe that our intelligence lives up high in our brains, which may contribute to why so many of us usually hold a lot of tension from our neck up.

There is so much going on in our heads—thinking, planning, processing, and worrying. Today’s “Take A Moment” two-minute micro-meditation—“Relax Your Head and Neck”—offers a gentle invitation to soften your head and neck, ease out of overthinking, and allow awareness to settle deeper into your body so you can embrace a quieter knowing where calm and peace await. Enjoy!
