Pause: Transform Stress Into Vitality
During our recent Quest workshop, “Write Your Life Open,” we explored these simple but important questions:
Where do you draw your strength from?
Where do you find resilience?
What is the “more than linear”—the “more than you can grasp with only your rational mind”—that sustains you?
My answers included many sources of emotional nourishment—family, friends, my dogs, nature, playing guitar—but again and again, I returned to the practice that has become foundational to my life: qigong.
Qigong is the self-care branch of traditional Chinese medicine that has been practiced in China for thousands of years. It combines gentle movement, breathwork, self-massage, sounds, meditative awareness, and visualization to support physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing—all at the same time. I find this practice so beneficial and enjoyable that I’m eager to share it with as many people as possible, which is why I’m especially excited about our upcoming free quest workshop on April 18—“Discover the Magic of Qigong,” with my favorite qigong teacher, world-renowned qigong master Lee Holden.
When you practice qigong, you mobilize your joints, stretch your muscles, release tension, regulate your nervous system, cultivate vitality, and activate your body’s innate healing abilities. You also get to experience the deeply peaceful, soothing, and nourishing feeling of being in the flow.
To give you a tiny taste of this powerful ancient practice that is the perfect antidote for the stresses of the modern world, today I’m sharing a short YouTube video for stress relief Lee created. You’ll experience how in just six minutes you can turn the tight, contracted energy of stress into the open, expansive energy of vitality.
I hope you enjoy the video, and it inspires you to join us on April 18 to experience more of the magic of qigong with Lee Holden!
